Difference between English Saddle and Western Saddle

The difference between the English and Western saddles is well-marked. One of the main differences is that in the English saddle, there is contact with the mouth of the horse via the reins. This helps when directing and speeding up the horse. On the contrary, in a Western saddle, there is no contact available with the mouth of the horse via reins. In this style, the horse is steered by increasing or decreasing weight via the seat to direct it in a specific direction.

The English horse saddle is a bit more flexible by nature. Because the riders remain in a relaxed position when riding, they can easily adapt to the pace of the horse and steer it accordingly.
